
Hydroxycut is a company which has been around for years selling various weight loss supplements, and first starting out in the days of ephedra. They have sold millions of dollars if not more in weight loss products, and over the years have built quite a collection of products, still including the original Hydroxycut, of course with a different formula than they originally used. But in the past 7 years, there have been various reports to the FDA of serious side effects, and in 2007, there was a death which was reported to the FDA in connection with Hydroxycut in March of 2009. Consumers have commonly reported feeling "funny", light headed, dizzy, over-stimulated, and sick when taking these pills. But many of the side effects severe enough to be reported to the FDA in the past 7 years have had something to do with severe renal failure. However, some have also reported heart attack, stroke, seizures, and severe and rapid skeletal breakdown. The recently reported death was caused by severe renal failure. Because of these, on May 1, 2009, the FDA issued an official warning against all Hydroxycut products, warning customers to stop use of all Hydroxycut products, and Hydroxycut as a company recalled 14 products. Many third party retailers have pulled stocks of all Hydroxycut products, whether officially recalled or not. At this time, the product(s) or ingredients at the source of these problems have not been determined, and as such, we would not suggest taking a risk with any Hydroxycut product.
